As well as receiving almost 500 enquiries for its world-leading range of precision measurement equipment, the Gloucestershire-based engineering company also hosted two visits from leading Labour and Conservative politicians. [13 kB] CMTS 2009 to see focus on machine tool and CMM utilization ew touch probes and probe software that increase machine tool automation, improve process control and allow advanced on-machine part verification, will be a major feature of Renishaw’s booth (24020) at the Canadian Manufacturing Technology Show (CMTS) taking place in Toronto from 19th to 22nd October 2009. Renishaw’s new retrofit service for co-ordinate measuring machines (CMMs) will also be profiled, including MODUS™ the company’s first metrology software. [20 kB] MACH 2010 to see strong focus on maximising machine utilisation First preview of Renishaw’s exhibits at UK’s largest manufacturing exhibition. New systems for assessing the performance of both three- and five-axis machine tools, plus products that increase machine tool automation, improve process control and allow advanced on-machine part verification will be a major feature of Renishaw’s stand at MACH 2010 (stand 5439). For visitors sourcing off-line measurement products, there will also be Renishaw’s new retrofit service for CMMs. [24 kB] Blog: Making an exhibition of ourselves When thinking about trade exhibitions, I am often reminded of the famous quote attributed to Mark Twain; ‘The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated’. For sure, many industrial events have suffered in recent years and some have indeed been subject to obituaries, but this has often been as much about... Blog: EMO Hannover – a world of metalworking, not music As Summer fades away, we move into a new season; that of exhibitions. We’ve written before about the supposed death of the exhibition industry , but as we have pointed out whilst many industrial events have suffered (and in some cases disappeared), this has often been as much about the failure of organisers to... Raman spectroscopy Renishaw manufactures a wide range of optical spectroscopy products, including: Raman microscopes, compact process monitoring Raman spectrometers, Raman analysers for scanning electron microscopes, lasers for spectroscopy, and state-of-the-art cooled CCD detectors. The Renishaw Raman systems exploit the Raman effect to identify and characterise the chemistry and structure of materials in a non-contacting, non-destructive manner. [12 kB] Blog: Digging for Britain Back in June we posted an item about the new UK Secretary of State for Business Vince Cable (‘ Cable ties himself to UK manufacturing ’) in which we noted early positive signs that the new UK Government was putting its weight behind the manufacturing sector. Blog: A clean break with the past A few months ago we posted an item entitled 'Illuminating history through science' which highlighted how new analytical tools, including our Raman spectroscopy systems, are removing the risks of damage to historical artefacts during restoration projects. Given this new focus on cautious... Blog: Today’s menu – Big MACH 2010 Yesterday, Birmingham, the UK’s second largest city, was the scene of an important event that will help shape the nation’s economic recovery. In a much smaller venue, far from the media scrum at the city’s University*, a group of staff and members from the Manufacturing Technologies Association... Blog: Daddy – what did you do for engineering? I often write about inspiring the next generation of engineers and in the week beginning 7th June, there is a perfect platform to help achieve this aim. This year the UK’s largest manufacturing show, MACH 2010, will bring together teachers, students and engineering businesses in a unique Education &...
